Wendigo
Wendigo are mythical creatures throughout the colder regions of Adref. While their true origin is unknown, many tales portray them as once ordinary men, driven to barbarism and cannibalism or making a dark pact with a devil in the cold reaches of the world. Few have survived encounters with these monsters, and those who do are often regarded as rambling madmen. They describe the creature as a hulking mound of black fur, with elongated limbs tipped with vicious claws, powerful haunches, and a bare animal skull concealing a darkness where a face should be.
These creatures skulk in the shadows of forests, and are said to be fiercely territorial of their hunting grounds. Eyeless, Wendigo bite the air to gain a sense of their prey; they can pinpoint a target’s location far swifter than the keenest of hunters.
